Why Dodgeball is perfect for PE lessons. According to a recent research article from OFSTED, dodgeball is the second most popular sport behind football amongst primary children in the UK.The report goes on to list dodgeball as the most in-demand sport in the UK (33% of primary school children questioned want more dodgeball , compared to 30% which wanted more football (OFSTED, 2018)).

The resources can be downloaded and can support your planning. We do not recommend using Dodgeball for PE lessons and we only suggest these resources for Dodgeball based sports clubs. Playing Dodgeball KS1 & KS2. Dodgeball is a fantastic team game that requires throwing skills, speed, agility, accuracy and dodging skills. You will need softballs (amount depends on numbers) and an area (preferably wall to wall). Divide all your class into teams of four or five depending on the amount in your class and the size of your hall.

It gives an introduction to the correct rules, equipment and sporting code used in dodgeball . It will also help you consider how to lead safe sessions and coach the basic skills of dodgeball . Finally, this course contains school-specific pages which will help you to adapt dodgeball for PE lessons, planning and teaching effectively.

In this adaptation of a dodgeball game for elementary PE , nobody is a target. You will need an equal number of soft balls and a cageball which is a large ball, four to six-feet in diameter. DIvide the PE class into two teams with an equal number of balls on each side of the half court line.

With this lesson plan, your students are going to learn to play dodgeball , practice the requisite skills, and demonstrate their abilities to perform various physical movements in a competitive game.
